Leaving a mark

Leaving a mark

On campus there's a monument (news link, since I don't have a non-snowed photo handy) to former MU Chancellor Barbara Uehling, who was the first woman to head a U.S. land-grant university. The monument — including a round marker, some trees and a couple of benches — was covered by the snowfall we recently received, and someone left a couple of handprints in the snow.

I saw it as leaving a mark on top of a mark that's already been left, which was a pretty neat thing to think about, especially with the transience of the handprint versus the relative permanence of the monument itself. (I'm writing this just after midnight. Clearly I'm getting too philosophical and should go to bed. ^_^)
